Area Description

The small historic communities that fan out from Park City include Kamas, Coalville, Oakley, Woodland, Francis, Peoa, Midway and Heber City. In contrast to Park City's rowdy mining history, these towns have farming and ranching backgrounds.

As the Park City and Deer Valley areas continue to grow, these areas have become increasingly popular among people seeking a quiet ranch lifestyle. Home to elk, deer, moose and with major lake and stream fishing resources, this area provides unparalleled year-round recreation. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, golf, power boating and sailing, hot air ballooning, sailplaneing, helicopter and cat skiing, horseback riding and even scuba diving in Midway's natural hot springs pools are among the most popular activities for locals and visitors.

In addition to many individual ranch properties in this area, several large acreage developments provide a unique addition to the Park City area residential mix. Wolf Creek Ranch, located 20 miles from Park City and surrounded by 2.2 million acres of Uinta National Forest, is a community of 72 private ranches on 13,000 acres.

With each community having a unique history, the in town residential product ranges from 1860s Swiss architecture in Heber and Midway to late 1800s/early 1900s Victorian and stone homes in Coalville and Kamas. Estates with river frontage co-exist with small, restored homes and cattle and horses still graze in between.
